We are a member of the Association of Business Schools (ABS), which is the representative body and authoritative voice for all of the leading business schools in the UK. ABS operates as an effective and independent network organisation for its members in areas such as Policy Development, Promotion & Representation and Training & Development Programmes. ABS works with similar organisations in Europe and around the world to influence those who have an involvement or interest in business and management education.

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT

Our BSc(Hons) Computing, Internet Computing, Multimedia Computing, Business Information Technology and E-Business IT courses are all currently recognised by the BCS - the Chartered Institute for IT - for exemption from their professional examinations. This means that if you study on our normal BSc Honours year programme you will be exempt from the part 1 and part 2 examinations of the BCS. After satisfying the Institute's conditions for a period of professional experience, graduates are entitled to apply for professional membership of the BCS. Students obtaining an HND in these subject areas are exempt from part 1 examinations of the BCS and will become qualified for associate membership.

London South Bank University has had a long association with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). The University is currently going through a re-accreditation process for the new CIM Dual Awards Scheme. Under this scheme LSBU students who successfully obtain a second-class or better honours degree in BA(Hons) Marketing, or a Marketing combined degree(*), or alternatively an MSc International Marketing or MA Marketing, qualify for entry to the CIM Professional Diploma. If they enter for the assessment within two years of graduation they also receive exemptions from 2 of the 4 modules on the programme. The scheme should be available during the 2009/10 academic year. Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

Our (part-time) Masters in Human Resources is fully validated by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, with students who complete the programme being eligible for Graduate Membership of the Institute, subject to its requirements being met. LSBU is approved as a centre able to set its own assessments as we have consistently met the rigorous demands of the CIPD National Exams over a number of years. This provides our students with a significant advantage.

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s (CIPFA) Certificate in Charity Finance and Accounting course offers an entry route to professional and academic qualifications for finance staff employed in the wider voluntary and community sector. This course was developed following the CIPFA's recognition of the need for a course that provides a professional qualification based upon knowledge of the specific charity finance world, rather than the commercial or public sector.

The major accountancy professional bodies in the UK and Ireland joined together in 1974 to form the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies. CCAB now has six members: The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI), The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). CCAB provides a forum in which matters affecting the profession as a whole can be discussed and co-ordinated and enables the profession to speak with a unified voice to government.

Our MSc Management (Internal Audit) is a pioneering course that will be taught in e-learning format with tutoring long distance support, allowing students to gain a qualification wherever they are located. It is targeted mainly at IIA Inc’s and IIA UK’s professionally qualified internal auditors, allowing for entrance into the programme at various stages depending on the level of professional qualification already achieved. Students will be required to complete a number of units listed, but will be allowed exemptions depending on the level of qualification already achieved with the professional organisations.

LSBU alongside over two hundred of the top universities and business schools worldwide has declared its support for the United Nations' Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative. The aim of the initiative is to champion responsible management education and research globally. The six principles of the PRME are inspired by the United Nations Global Compact. As a guiding framework, they seek to integrate sustainability and corporate responsibility in a systemic manner within management education curricula, approaches to learning and teaching and research in order to develop a new generation of leaders capable of managing the complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century.
